Those of you who have visited our website must find it a bit unusual. I’m hoping in a good way. I have all the information regarding J & H Junk Removal readily available including what we do, hours of operation, payment methods, etc…
I was going to hire a company to create this brilliant website but that is a bit on the pricey side and a I saw friends who had done just that. They lost their personality in the website. One friend hired an outside web designer and there was nothing of her in it. They had actors on the front page who were using equipment she doesn’t use.
Another friend went to a web designer who knew her, that one had her personality in it and it starred her, not some strangers no one will ever meet. I must say they did a good job for my friend. But that is not always the case.
We are a small company, who at this time only operate locally in Flagler and part of Volusia counties. We don’t need to be global. So, I decided to try my hand at our website. There you go. www.jandhjunkremoval.com was born.
What makes it special? What makes it my baby? Not, only is it about us as a company and family, but it’s about Flagler County. I am into Social Media. I love sharing things people want to share, such as what is going on in town and at the beach. I love to share new businesses, restaurants and shops. So, I started a page on our website called “Around Town.” http://www.jandhjunkremoval.com/around_town.html
On this page I share the Chamber Calendar of the month, any pertinent information such as to change your clocks, I add any events coming up in the next couple of months I receive through emails or social media. So, if you have something, especially with a picture, email or Facebook it to me. I will see if I can get it on our page.
On our “Home Page,” I have the weather channel so you can click on that and see what it is going to be like today or during the week. I have a few excerpts, and of course slideshows of what we do. A picture speaks a thousand word.
On the “Home,” page and the “Around Town,” page each day I have a cartoon about what day of the week it is,( just in case you happen to forget it’s Friday), and a new quote of the day. I love visiting my website every morning and sharing it on Social Media.
Of course we have a “Photo,” page and a “Video,” page which is more about Palm Coast, than J & H Junk Removal, LLC because I can’t take a video on a job while I’m working.
Where Does It go?
We have a “References,” page, and “About,” page and the typical things you will see on a website. We also have a “Business News,” page, which I do not write, but from time to time, I do see an interesting article which I will post for others to enjoy.

We’ve been in business for three years. January we will be going into our fourth year. When you own your own business you learn a lot. Mostly by trial and error. Yes, we spent money on advertisement which deemed unnecessary. But we learned, “Okay, not doing that again.”
One day in our earlier years a client liked us so much, she went onto Angie’s List and wrote a magnificent review. I had no idea about Angie’s List at the time. Since then, several other clients have also written very kind reviews with absolutely no coaxing from us. In fact I only think about it when it shows up in my email and I check so I can promptly reply.
Now I have not yet paid for advertisement on Angie’s List, yet many people see us on there from our client reviews. When I ask a client how they had heard about our services, I usually hear, “On the internet.” “I Googled Junk Removal.” “A friend recommended you.” and “I saw you on Angie’s List.”
Now, don’t get me wrong, many salespeople have phoned us from Angie’s list and requested we go on as paying customers. Something I have been thinking about. However, they are honest with why they are calling. Messages always state their name and they are from Angie’s List. They almost always state why they are calling. Whether to inform us of a new review, or to subscribe, or to make corrections.
Now, this can not be said for Home Advisor. Home Advisor has also contacted me many times. However, they never state who they are working for. Instead they say their name, mention a job for us, and then leave a local number. Of course I believe this is a customer. I’m not sure if this is the company standard or poor judgement on the salespeople they hire.
Recently a salesperson from Home Advisor called and left his name, number and said he had some trash-outs for us. I called back in a very short period of time and got an answering machine, also not stating the company. He did not return my call for a few days, and then when he called back, we constantly played phone tag. I felt bad because I could not reach this potential customer. I spent a week doing this back and forth. Finally, I saw his name, I actually put his name in my contact list so I would not miss his call again. Come to find out he is selling Home Advisor. Really? I was polite and explained I was not interested, but I really was steaming. Why should I waste so much of my precious time calling this person back who made himself seem like a customer? This is not the first time this has happened with them, but it is the first time it went on so long.
I am not very familiar with the way things work at that company, but correct me if I’m wrong, we pay them by lead, and that means whether or not we get that lead. So if someone calls for a service we do not do, we have to pay. If someone calls from out of our area, we have to pay, etc…
This is just my feelings on this subject, but when we are ready to pay a company to list us, it will not be Home Advisor. We run our business on trust and not on being deceitful. I would rather give our money to Angie’s List.

Tearing down the shed
Hello my dear friends.
Many people ask about our business. You would be surprised what actually goes into it. Case in point, this shed. Here we have a shed in good condition except for vandalism. In other words, it is solid with no rot, no termite damage, and not falling apart. The owner rents the duplex. So for safety issues he wanted it gone, along with other junk the previous tenants left in the house and garage. 
There was more.The junk removal from the property didn’t take too long, however removing an entire wood, solid shed is another story. We have to remove the roof first and foremost for safety issues.
Then slowly take the rest of the shed apart. We take each piece and carry, or in this case, drag it to the front and onto our trailer. Now we have the foundation. In this case it was not concrete. 
Of course, all of this needs to be disposed of properly which is something we pay for. Not free for us.
After three days, we finally have the owners property cleaned out inside and out. 
I really have to stop taking sideways pictures. Sorry about that.

I was wondering what to write about in my first public blog on our webpage. Well, what do people ask about? Where does this go?
That all depends on what we pick up. Our primary pick up is construction materials, whether it be tiles, paint cans, counter-tops, toilets, sheet-rock, etc. These types of materials almost always are brought to the landfill. I’m sorry, but it pretty much has to.
Furniture, if in decent condition, is donated to local charities. Being a small business in Flagler county, we know quite a few. I prefer to keep it small and for very good causes, not that the bigger charities aren’t good causes, but if I can personally touch the animals in the humane society, or a family in Christmas Come True, or a kitty in Flagler Cats, we will.

Hot Tub Hell
So, You decide a hot tub would be a great thing to have to relax after a long day of work. Turn on that switch and let the hot bubbles massage your achy muscles. Well, that is very nice but after a while you just realize you don’t use it any more. So, the water turns green and it becomes neglected. Now what?
Either you move and let the next owners deal with the new expensive cesspool or you yourself decide to remove it. In most cases hot tub owners, property owners, and realtors call us. J & H Junk Removal if you are in Flagler County.
Joe and I have removed our share of these lovely pools of wonder. Most of the time they are filled with green water, either from not chlorinating it or from rain. So, unplug and drain. No problem.
Now removing is done by removing the outside wood, then cutting away at various parts, removing motors and other parts. Many times it gets cut in half or quarters. This is time consuming but that is fine. The thing about above ground hot tubs that sit outside in the wild life.
Usually we encounter an array of bugs and frogs. The last one we did, shown above had no frogs unfortunately. There was a reason for that.
Yes, we came across spiders, roaches, and in Florida our roaches are politely called Palm Meadow bugs, This makes them seem like some pretty insect. Lets call it what it is, its a frigging cockroach. and in extra large with wings. Yes these buggers fly. 
Yes, Yuck.
But that isn’t the worst by far. Doing what I do I’m used to insects. even the ant nest we found. 
At least once a day I say, “I Hate Ants!!!”
now we got spiders, roaches and ants. Oh, did I mention the scorpion?
Joe even found a rats nest (No rats thank goodness.) So, now we lift the whole hot tub to turn it upside-down. “Holy Crap!” Yes, there is the reason there are no frogs or rats. a four foot snake slithered frantically out from the underside of the hot tub. No clue what kind and for me they are all poisonous.
Okay, roaches, Spiders, scorpions, ants, a big snake. Oh I almost forgot the two wasp nests. one of them was active. Joe is allergic too. 
So, not to make you feel creepy or anything, (well a little bit) but next time you are relaxing in that above ground hot tub in the outdoors of Florida think about what lies beneath.
I think I really need a few lessons so we can make this rock.

Now even items that are tattered, such as towels and blankets, will go to Mari Molina owner of Flagler Cats, or to the shelter. We are big animal lovers. If we come to your home, We will love on your dog or cat. No worries.
What else? Oh, we are asked about picking up metal items for free. NO, we do not do that. We are a business which pays taxes, permits, insurance, licensing and all sorts of regulations. Every county wants their share. So we cannot work for free. Gas is high and we already will do one free estimate per job.
Do we scrap? Yes. But people do not realize what is involved here. and many think you get a ton of money for metal. Not! It sometimes takes hours of valuable time to take apart items just to get to the metal.
Finally after blisters, and lots of effort, it is put to the side, taking up valuable space for a time, It is not cost effective to spend twenty dollars in gas to receive eleven dollars. So, it takes up space until we have enough to make a few dollars. We only scrap what we collect on our regular jobs. We will not come out to get your metal items for free.
Household Items, again it all depends on what it is. If in good condition, again charities, and if not, well, you know where that goes.
Hazardous waste. By this I mean light bulbs, batteries, paint, and chemicals. They have a special place we take them.
Bio-Hazardous Waste. meaning, blood, maggots, bodies, etc. Okay, We recommend a company for that. We do not do Bio-Hazard.
We do recycle when we can. We do our very best to keep Flagler County clean and try to put items where they belong.
All in all, J & H Junk Removal helps residents, non-residents, commercial properties Reclaim Their Space.
